Forty-year-old Michael Bradley of Salem was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 1, Salem Police Department announced on Monday, Dec. 12.
Police executed a warrant at Bradley's Lafayette Street apartment, where they discovered and seized a hoard of marijuana, edible THC products, psychedelic mushrooms, cash, and drug paraphernalia.
A large amount of the unauthorized THC edibles were disguised as candy almost identical to name brands, with bright packages including some labeled "skittles" or "starbuds."
Recreational marijuana is legal in Massachusetts, but adults are limited to up to 10 ounces of marijuana at their residence, and intention to distribute is punishable by incarceration, according to Massachusetts state laws.
Bradley is charged with a slew of drug-related charges, including multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute a class C substance and distribution of a class D substance.
Police used the opportunity to warn the public that some THC products are packaged similarly to familiar candy or food products. Edibles are recommended to be secured in a safe location away from children and pets, according to a Cannabis Control Commission-endorsed site.
